Francis and the Lights, a band led by Francis Farewell Starlite, have released a music video for their single "Friends." The song and video features a couple of notable musicians in Kanye West and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon.
The stage lights and open studio space along with the lighthearted dance moves performed by Starlite and Vernon give the video a simple aesthetic. Jake Schreier, the director behind the music video, explained how it came together in an interview with Pitchfork:
Francis and I have known each other since we were kids, and we’ve been making single-take, minimalist performance videos since 2008. We just wanted to do the next iteration of what we had been doing before. We had never done a synchronized dance in a video or really had other protagonists in the video, so that’s what we wanted to add to this one.
Another one of Francis and the Lights' friends is Chance the Rapper, who featured the band in "Summer Friends," a track off of his newest mixtape Coloring Book.
"Friends" is out now and available to purchase on Amazon.
