The demise of Ween certainly wasn't happy news, and since Aaron Freeman's (better known as Gene Ween) departure, we haven't seen any new original music from him. Fortunately, Freeman's just put out this EP of unreleased demos. Gener’s Gone: The Final Demo Recordings Of Gene Ween is a somber goodbye to the previous 25+ years of Ween's music, but Gener leaves us with a hopeful "stay tuned."

From the Bandcamp page:

After 20+ years of near-fatal drug & alcohol abuse (thankfully
culminating with intensive but successful rehab), AARON FREEMAN (aka Gene Ween) was left in a dire financial situation. All proceeds will go directly to Aaron, as he continues down the path toward creative freedom and personal health.

These demos represent the final writings and music of Gene Ween, before he departed and the inner FREEMAN emerged. On that note, we have received a two word personal statement from Aaron: "stay tuned."

Ween's other primary member, Dean Ween, is still playing here and there, and you can see him join Les Claypool onstage earlier this year right here on Zumic.
