Los Angeles noise rappers clipping. are back with the fifth video from their fantastic second full length album, CLPPNG. The clip is directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada and Cristina Bercovitz and you can watch it above.
Estrada and Bercovitz were able to pull off a very powerful video in a minimalistic style. The clip interchanges between flashing red during rapper Daveed Diggs rapid-fire verses and a bright white during Mariel Jaroda's heavenly hook. The beat is built around the sound of an alarm ringing, which is integrated into the video perfectly as the background flashes in time to the beat.
The video begins with Diggs on the ground with a bullet hole and blood slowly pouring out of his chest. For the rest of the clip the bloodstain gets bigger as Diggs gets closer to death. This is a masterful showing of emotion and storytelling with a brilliantly simple concept and a poignant theme.
