Producer T Bone Burnett's latest project is an album of lost Bob Dylan songs recorded by a modern supergroup. Dubbed The New Basement Tapes, the project features Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith, Jim James, and Marcus Mumford. They've just shared "When I Get My Hands On You," the third track we've heard from Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes.
The video is a simple yet trippy lyric sequence featuring an animated woman wandering through the real world. Bob Dylan's handwritten lyrics appear as graffiti on the walls behind her as she wanders through animated hands and eyes. The song itself, this time fronted by Marcus Mumford, is simplistic indie rock, with a style almost entirely unlike any Bob Dylan tune. The lyrics were penned in 1967, so the modernized version is an interesting choice. Watch the video for yourself above.
Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes will be out November 11th. Pre-order it through Amazon.
