All y'all wanna get like Nelly.
Today, Nelly released the video for his new single "Get Like Me," which will be on his upcoming album M.O., due out on September 30th.
In the Colin Tilley directed black and white (and red and gold) video, Nelly, Nicki and Pharrell dance it up and shake their butts with some attractive ladies a ton of money, and a sumo wrestler (yeah, I don't know). The toilet paper is money, the cars are expensive, and the golden motorcycle has a cup holder, you know, for your spare bottle of vodka.
There are also a few strange clips in the video, including an old toothless guy who keeps popping up, a sumo wrestler, and a guy mopping the floor, well, before the sumo wrestler tries to throw him across the room.
The most striking part of the video, other than Pharell's contagious smile, however, is watching someone play the booty bongos on an exceptionally nice booty. Have booties always sounded like cowbells?
This is Nelly's first time collaborating with Nicki Minaj. He talked about the collaboration during the shoot according to Music and Lyrics, and said, "My first time working with Nicki but she brings the energy, charisma and star power and I think that's what the video is about, it's just about that star power, energy, and the hypeness of the joint."
We would be remiss if we didn't point out some similarities to another video featuring Pharrell — "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg. The video for "Drop It Like It's Hot" is also in black and white, usually puts three people in the main shot, and has a really similar beat. Coincidence? We think not. Watch both and tell us what you think.
Watch the video above. This is the second single Nelly has released from the new album. You can watch the other, "Hey Porsche," here.
