It seems that Daft Punk really did get lucky this time around. Their flagship single "Get Lucky", from Random Access Memories, has become the first single of 2013 to reach a million sales in the UK. The most impressive part, however, is that the french duo reached this landmark in only 69 days.

Daft Punk is only the second French act to reach the million sales mark for a single in the UK according to BBC. The record was first broken by David Guetta for "Titanium" a few weeks ago. However, "Get Lucky" managed to do in 69 days what took "Titanium" 79 weeks.

"Get Lucky" has spent about a month at the top of the Official UK Singles Top 100 since its release. It is only the 136th single to have reached one million sales in the 60-year history of the Top 100.

The last time a single took less than three months to reach a million sales was when X-Factor winner James Arthur did it with his cover of Shontelle's "Impossible." However, unlike Daft Punk, Arthur did it with the full power of The X Factor and it's television partners behind him.

This million-sale mark isn't just an achievement for the men of Daft Punk. "Get Lucky's" million sales is also a first for many "Get Lucky" collaborators.

“The fact that "Get Lucky" has sold a million copies in the UK is one thing, but to do it in 69 days?! I’m awestruck,” 60 year-old "Get Lucky" guitarist Nile Rodgers said in an interview with OfficialCharts.com. “When I think how it happened, too, with people who I like a lot, that we just decided to go into the studio and do something … And then it turns out like this? It’s absolutely remarkable, because no-one was prepared for this!

... I’ve had big records and Number 1s; I have had records that were Number 1 in the United States but nowhere else … I’ve had records which have done well , but not in the States. But to have this ubiquitous record, that is a hit everywhere … It’s amazing to me! I’m out on the road and I can hear it wherever I go. I’m flabbergasted!”

This benchmark is also a first for singer/producer Pharrell Williams. Though it is his first track to hit a million in the UK, it will likely not be his last. In fact, Pharrell may pass this mark again very very soon with Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." "Blurred Lines," which features Pharrell, has already sold 800,000 copies five weeks after being released. It's only a matter of time.
