Brooklyn rapper Your Old Droog explains his morning routine over a Beastie Boys classic in his latest track "Get The Paper." The El RTNC-produced song serves as a tribute to fallen Beastie Boys member MCA, sampling the 1992 single "Pass The Mic."
Droog takes us on a lyrical tour of his daily morning habits which include drinking coffee and reading the paper. He raps, "Ain't no tellin' how many newspapers I read / Buy several papers and I read them all twice / So I can recite them to you backwards son I'm nice." Leave it to Droog to turn your average morning into a witty, creative song. He told XXL, "I drink coffee and read the paper in the morning, so I wrote a song about it. I only get the paper when I’m in it now though, feel me? Some of y’all might recognize the sample. RIP MCA.”
The "Get The Paper" cover artwork features a picture of a review from NY Times music critic Jon Caramanica.
