Up-and-coming hip-hop artist Niall Gavin, a.k.a. Only Real, has just released a throwback-style music video for "Get It On," a track from his Days in the City EP that was released on October 4th of this year. For the song itself, the West London slack-rapper employs fuzzy guitars riffs, breezy background vocals, and dreamy synths to supplement his nonchalant vocal delivery. All of these production aspects fit perfectly with the vintage-tinged video that resembles a montage of candid home video footage, conveying a sense of hopeful nostalgia (i.e. swimming in rivers, setting off fireworks, and drinking in public with your good-time buddies).
Even though summer is quite far away and we're all suffering from SAD, this song provides the light at the end of the tunnel. In an interview with The Fader, Only Real stated, "I'd love to live by the beach in America. Live in the sun, live that life for a bit." Sounds about right.
