"Ghost Notes" - Veruca Salt [Official Full Album Stream + Zumic Review]

Alternative rockers Veruca Salt have returned with an album titled Ghost Notes, their fifth full-length studio album. It is their first LP since 2006's IV. For Record Store Day last year, the band released the MMXIV EP, which was the band's first new music to include their original lineup since 1997's Eight Arms to Hold You. Band personnel on Ghost Notes includes Louise Post (guitar, vocals), Nina Gordon (guitar, vocals), Steve Lack (bass), and Jim Shapiro (drums, backing vocals).

Ghost Notes proves that the band's original lineup still have an undeniable chemistry. Many of the songs on the album contain a mixture of classic sounding rock and roll swagger while still incorporating their bass heavy, grungy flavor. There's a cleverly balanced mix of tempos, which allows the listener to not feel pummeled by constant distortion and pounding drums.

Veruca Salt have returned to form with Ghost Notes, which should stand tall as one of 2015's best albums. The '90s rock sound is there, but this doesn't feel dated (much like this year's comeback record from Sleater-Kinney). Veruca Salt have been extremely influential on a new generation of indie rock artists, and they're still making great music.
