Real Estate have released a behind the scenes look into their latest album Atlas, which is available for streaming here on Zumic via Spotify. The video features some intimate performances and live footage of the band making creative decisions about the album.

The New Jersey-native band starts off explaining why they chose to record the album in Chicago, where they all live now. They didn't want to record the album in New York City because of all the distractions, and they wanted to capture the energy of their live performances. The indie darlings also spend some time explaining their collaborative efforts and their choice of producer Tom Schlick, who has worked with Norah Jones and Ryan Adams in the past.

From there they go on to tell us what Atlas means to them, how it compares to previous albums, and how they want their fans to receive it.

Matt Mondanile:

Atlas is an interesting record to me because its a transitional record more than the other records that we've made i think because we're all much older than we were, I'm living in a different place and we're still doing this seriously, whereas its a little bit more unclear what we were doing on Days. I feel like Atlas kinda will nicely lead into further records.

Martin Courtney:

I think for the most part this is an album of songs that will really open themselves up, if you give them time. And I just think this record is like us refining the things that make us, us, like make our band unique. So hopefully people will listen to it and be like this sounds like real estate but like in a good way this sounds like real estate and it doesn't sound like anything else kinda thing. Thats like the goal I would say.

The video features snippets of five of the tracks including: "April's Song," "Past Lives," "Had to Hear," "Horizon," and "The Bend."

Atlas is now available for purchase through Domino, iTunes and Amazon.
