Listen above to Primus' new single "Golden Ticket" off their upcoming eighth studio album, Primus & The Chocolate Factory, a tribute to the movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, due out on October 21st.
The eccentric and alternative '90s rock trio are on tour this fall to promote the album. Tool drummer Danny Carey is filling in temporarily for Tim "Herb" Alexander while he recovers from open-heart surgery.
"Golden Ticket" is everything you would expect to come from the mind of Les Claypool and Company: quirky lyrics, weird musical atmosphere, and a heavy emphasis on bass. Larry LaLonde does his job by providing awesome guitar parts to compliment Claypool's god-like bass playing. Tim Alexander cannot be discredited either. His funky and eclectic style of drumming is prevalent, and this is the first full length album he is on with Primus since 1995's Tale of the Punchbowl, aside from the DVD/EP that he performed on, Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People released 10.7.2003.
