The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s has continued to remain an inspirational force in music and culture. This Spring, the Children's Museum of Manhattan will honor the historic jazz era with the launch of its new exhibition, “Jazzed! The Changing Beat of 125th Street."
Although its intended audience is children, many treats will be offered for jazz lovers of any age. Some goodies include a unique karaoke auto-tune experience where you can transform your voice into the voice of beloved jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald. Visitors can also experience a revival of Duke Ellington's music through live performances featuring some of New York's most promising young jazz pianists. And if you desire an even more interactive experience, visitors will be offered the chance to create their own music using authentic music sheets recovered from the era.
Get ready to travel back in time and spend time with some of Harlem's greatest jazz legends with this exhibition running May 23rd through October 19th, 2014. The Children's Museum of Manhattan presents this exhibition in collaboration with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
