Lux DeVille, a collaboration between fellow Jersey musicians in emcee Darryl (formerly known as 8thW1) and producer Patrick Van Dyke (PVD), have released the first single from their upcoming second album.
PVD's cool, jazzy aesthetic purrs right from the start with the soft bass. This combined with featured DJ MentPlus's carefully echoed sampling and Darryl's smooth sense of sound in language give the song a very introspective mood.
Also listen for the very sudden ending, which reminds of Darryl's opening line, "Geronimo over the ledge, head first off of a building." It's a chilling and subtle bit of symmetry that definitely leaves us wanting more.
Fortunately, according to DJBooth, a second promotional single is projected. This may be "Keep It Goin'," which you can preview in the iTunes store.
