On September 14, 2018, Rhino Records will release a box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Doors' third studio album, Waiting for the Sun.  Included will be rough mixes, unreleased tracks, and live recordings.  One of the previously unreleased tracks in the collection will be a rough mix of "Hello, I Love You," which was the first song on that album.  Listen above on SoundCloud.

The noticeable differences on this mix are Morrison's vocals and Krieger's fuzzed-out guitar, which are both more pronounced than the original studio version, while Densmore's drums and Manzarek’s bass and keyboards parts sound lower in the mix.  Densmore shared a comment about the lyrics' origins in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying:  "It’s about an African-American girl he saw on the boardwalk in Venice... 'Do you hope to make her see you, fool? / Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel?'... Who puts words like that to rock & roll?  Only Jim."

You can purchase a 2CD/1LP or 2CD version on Amazon.
