This week, Pepsi announced the release of Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game, a "visual soundtrack" honoring the world's love affair with the sport of soccer. "Heroes," a Janelle Monáe cover of the David Bowie classic, is the first official release from the upcoming soundtrack. Watch above, via YouTube.
In true Monáe fashion, the music video tells a story of underdogs triumphing over mean girls and bullies. The music video was directed by Alyssa Pankiw and produced by The Young Astronauts in collaboration with The Creator's League.
Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game will feature musical and directorial appearances by Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Timbaland, Don Omar, Santigold, Spike Lee, and Idris Elba. It's scheduled to be released on June 9th internationally and June 10th in the U.S.A., and you can currently pre-order on iTunes.
