5 Seconds Of Summer "Hey Everybody!" Behind-The-Scenes
The song itself bears a strong resemblance to the classic "Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran. The track is an empowering anthem. It revolves around the idea that though you are struggling with something, you can get through it. The video strongly evokes this from start to finish.
The video begins with a narrator introducing the characters with their terrible, low paying jobs: Michael Clifford, a hot dog costume-wearing sign spinner; Calum Hood, a dog walker; Ashton Irwin, a children's birthday entertainer; and Luke Hemmings, an office temp. As the narration stops, the song begins and the imagination of the boys come to life as they imagine their lives with money.
From throwing money in the air, becoming real life video game characters, and riding segways in robes and funny hats, the video highlights the goofy side of the boys. It concludes with their dreams becoming reality. Though childish, the video does represent the idea the song promotes; don't give up because things will get better!
