Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played 3 nights in Perth, Australia earlier this week. Today, The Boss released videos for "Kitty's Back" (click here to watch on Zumic) and a cover of AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" which you can watch above.
It's a serious crowd pleaser for the Western Australians who were at the show. AC/DC are easily the most successful rock band to ever come from the country, and Bruce Springsteen does a great version here with The E Street Band plus Tom Morello. From the opening signature guitar riff and heavy drum part, you can sense the crowd getting amped up. Springsteen's vocal is a cool interpretation of the song that has a much different feel than the original Bon Scott vocal from 1979. What you get with Springsteen is the all-American classic workingman's growl.
Morello kicks off the guitar orgy at 2:25, then hands things off to Nils Lofgren. Springsteen continues the cipher, then hands things off to Little Steven. At that point, all 4 guitar players start shredding in harmony working up to a climax that leads into the chorus again. The crowd is into it, you can see them jumping around and hear them singing along. The band even extends the song from the outro to include another chorus, so everyone could savor the moment.
