Ty Segall puts his psychedelic twist on The Spencer Davis Group's classic tune "I'm A Man." Listen above.
Fuzzed out riffs on guitar and bass set this song apart from The Spencer Davis Group's original 1967 recording of the song, which featured a teenage Steve Winwood on vocals and keyboard before he went on to achieve stardom as a member of Traffic, Blind Faith, and eventually a prolific solo career.
Ty's vocals go from spoken word style during the verses to emotional bleting during the choruses, which are supported by garage rock harmonies. The song is driven by improvisational drumming and a trippy guitar jam closes things out, staying true to Segall's style.
The track is the first single from Ty's upcoming covers album titled Fudge Sandwich. It is set for release on October 26, 2018.
Ty will head out on a North American tour later this year. For concert tickets and more, check out the Ty Segall Zumic artist page.
