Sebadoh, the '90s indie powerhouse founded by former Dinosaur Jr. bassist Lou Barlow, has released a single from their upcoming album Defend Yourself, which is due out on September 17th. It will be the band's first full-length record since 1999. The song is classic Sebadoh: heavy, fuzzy lo-fi magic. Give it a listen in the player above.
Defend Yourself finds the band moving forward while also remembering their roots. Their record label, Joyful Noise, reports that "Defend Yourself is more of an organic reformation than a comeback album." Even so, the album "also marks a return to the self-recorded DIY ethos of early Sebadoh albums." The result, if "I Will" is any indication, is new material that reflects Sebadoh's lo-fi aesthetic and pushes the band in new directions.
