Summer might be winding down, but things are heating up between two of the sexiest hip hop MCs of all time.
We have an official rap beef on our hands between Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim, which has gone up a few notches in the last week. After a back and forth around Beyonce's "Flawless" remix, Kim went back in with "Identity Theft" featuring cover art displaying the face of none other than Nicki Minaj and some pointed words for the controversial Queens rapper. Last week, Minaj called out Queen B in her "Flawless" Remix collaboration with Beyonce, Kim responded with her own remix of the song, proclaiming:
Am I trippin’ or did this hoe just say my name?
Queen of rap? Fuck outta here
Queen is back, fuck outta here
Time to get this wack bitch up outta here
I woke up like this, fuck outta here
This latest tune, "Identity Theft," has a menacing beat and some menacing rhymes to match. Besides comparing herself to such infamous figures as Adolf Hitler and Martha Stewart, Kim calls Minaj her enemy:
And now they wanna send me requests
Telling me that I'm simply the best
I won't stop till I see my enemies rest
They probably get locked up for identity theft
It's great to see a hip hop legend come back with this kind of emotional fire. However, Lil Kim hasn't been relevant for years and plastic surgery has left her with little resemblance to the star who many of us remember fondly from the '90s. For what it's worth, #LilKimGiveUp and #LilKimGiveUpNickiWon are currently trending on Twitter with some brutal photos posted by Minaj fans and Lil Kim haters.
Let's just hope the battle stays in the music and doesn't spill out into the streets.
