Michigan based emo-revivalists Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) are putting out their second full length album, You Will Eventually Be Forgotten, on August 19th via TopShelf Records and Count Your Lucky Stars. You can listen to the first single off the record, "If It's Bad News, It Can Wait," above.

This song tells a short story about three friends who go on a trip to Virginia Beach but found out tragedy struck back home. The vocals are understated, letting the lyrics take focus. Vocalist Keith Latinen plays the narrator, crafting dark similes and talking about the mundane activities that teenagers do on vacation. The song takes a turn when one of the friends finds out his brother died. From there, the tone completely changes. There is a sense of confusion and fear as the narrator realizes there is nothing that could be done to help. In three short minutes, the band is able to place the listener into the world of these three teenagers and strike a deep emotional chord within the listener.

The instrumentals show the influence of '90s midwest-emo bands like American Football and Mineral, with slow, shimmering post-rock guitars. The instrumentation slowly builds in intensity throughout the song, reaching the climax in the middle and retaining that level until the end. It's a tense song, but it's beautiful in its storytelling. With this single, Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) created something you won't forget for a long time.

You Will Eventually Be Forgotten is out August 19th and you can pre-order it on TopShelf Records. For the latest on Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate), including news, music and tour dates, check out their website.
