Johnny Cash's lost record, Out Among The Stars, isn't due out until March 25th, but Sony Music has just shared a second song from the album in anticipation of its release.
"I'm Movin' On" is Cash's cover of Hank Snow's classic 1950 song, with Waylon Jennings sharing vocal duties. Like "She Used To Love Me A Lot," the track is an uncharacteristically polished song for Cash, demonstrative of the Nashville sound of the '80s. While Cash and Jennings' distinctive vocal timbres shine through, the addition of a slick electric guitar solo give the tune that Countrypolitan shine. Listen above.
“I'm Movin' On” was recorded for Out Among The Stars in the early 1980s but, Cash and Jennings certainly weren't the first to cover Hank Snow's song. Ray Charles hit the charts with his version in 1959, Elvis covered it in '69, and numerous other artists have performed it live throughout their careers.
Out Among The Stars was scrapped when Cash left Columbia records in 1985, but the LP was re-discovered last year and will be released March 25th via Legacy Recordings. You can pre-order the record now via Amazon.
