Last Friday marked the 20th anniversary of the release of Nirvana's third and final album, In Utero. To celebrate, Rhode Island band Deer Tick performed at Brooklyn Bowl as "Deervana," and covered the album in its entirety.
As is evident in their cover of "All Apologies" (above), Deer Tick do a great Nirvana impression, with frontman John McCauley singing in an almost eerily dead-on Cobain sneer. Apparently, he even wore a flannel shirt at the concert. According to Rolling Stone, highlights of the show included the addition of a cellist on "Dumb," tourmate Torres' guest vocals on "Milk It," and a post-performance pillow fight.
Luckily, NYCTaper was kind enough to record the whole thing and release it for free. Stream "All Apologies" above, and download the entire performance at nyctaper.com.
