Despite its tumultuous origins, Thanksgiving is a time of coming together, over-eating home-cooked meals, and promptly falling asleep (in that order). For Jack White and his team at Third Man Records, however, the holiday has a different purpose: "remember those in less fortunate situations than ourselves...and help do something good for some folks who really need and appreciate it."
To honor this commitment, White's label has launched The Great Third Man Turkey Drive to help the Nashville Rescue Mission reach its donation goal: one-thousand turkeys. The project works like this: bring a turkey or needed items of the same value and receive a 7" single of your choice from their record store (excluding limited editions or specialty discs). Additionally, you will have your picture taken--turkey and vinyl in hand--and put up on Third Man's wall of fame.
Turkeys are valued at $25; the person who brings the most turkeys or equivalent value in other items will be awarded the Grand Prize: the extremely rare Dead Weather Triple Decker--a 7" single encased in a 12" record. To access the actual single, you must crack and destroy the 12". Only 300 copies were made. The drive began this past Monday, November 11th and will go through Tuesday, November 26th. Below you can find the values for acceptable donations.
