According to NME, James Murphy's work on Arcade Fire's fourth album is done, and he says that it is "really fucking epic."
The band announced the new record on Twitter in response to a fan's message stating "you're my favourite." However, while Murphy states that his work is done, he claims that "for them, it's not finished until it's in stores."
Murphy praises the band highly, saying that "there's a whole complement of people in that band who could have their own bands, or are a successful solo artist." He also spoke highly of Régine Chassagne, who had her first child with fellow member Win Butler. He said that "she worked up until, like, the very final point she possibly could in the studio before giving birth. All of them, they're so committed to making this record."
He goes on:
They're all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming. The last time I dared think it was finished I came back to the studio three days later to mix and they'd written two new songs for the album! So it was like, uh, "Let's record these too!" But it sounds awesome. Really.
According to Murphy, "it sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire." If that's the case, then their fourth record will not disappoint, and following the rising progression of excellence from Funeral onward, it's bound to surge the band to the highest realm of musical stardom they have yet to experience. (And possibly another Grammy!)
The new album comes out October 29th as stated on the band's Twitter. Stay tuned on Zumic for further information.
