SZA released a music video for her song “Julia” from her second album Z which was released by Top Dawg Entertainment this past April. The music video also features a sneak peak of a new song entitled “Tender.”
The music video follows SZA as she lazily dances around an empty warehouse, tossing her trademark wild hair from side to side. The video is simple and allows the viewer to channel their focus on SZA’s effortless vocals and upbeat feel of the song. Similar to other songs by SZA, the emotionality of the song is difficult to grasp. The ethereal chimes and keys contrasting the less than optimistic lyrics. "Julia" may be a track that will take a few listens to wrap your head around, but SZA's organic vocals will keep you grounded through the twists and turns of her elusive emotions.
At the conclusion of "Julia," the video takes a turn in introducing a clip from SZA's new song "Tender." The video loses the upbeat feel of "Julia" and shifts into a more somber quality while SZA walks along the beach. The second part of the music video lasts for less than a minute, leaving listeners curious to see how the song will grow in the hook. Until SZA releases the full track, this little clip can continue to tease listeners.
