Hip-hop producer extraordinaire Just Blaze sat down with Vlad TV to chat about his favorite producers and his formula for staying at the top of his game.

He was asked to name six total favorites, with three being newer, up-and-coming producers, and three representing his all-time favorites. Here's what he came up with:

New: Mike WiLL Made it, DJ Mustard, Young Chop

All-time: Large Professor, DJ Premier, RZA

Whereas his first list contains names from all different areas of the country, Just Blaze's all-time favorites list stays true to his region (he's from Paterson, NJ) and includes only NYC-based producers from hip-hop's golden era. His reverence for all six is very apparent in the interview, as is his desire to learn from each one.

The interviewer then asks Just Blaze about his longevity, noting that hip-hop producers often have very short careers. Blaze says the key is making music for all occasions:

"Knowing how to attack all those different moods and parts of peoples' lives, it all accounts for something. You can't be in the club 24/7, you can't be depressed and angry 24/7, you're not gonna be washing your dishes and mowing your lawn 24/7. There's music for all of those things, and when they say it's the soundtrack to your life, it really is... I've always made it a point to tap into all of that."

As Blaze's most recent project was a collaboration with Baauer, creator of "Harlem Shake," suffice it to say that he's walking the walk as well as talking the talk.
