Last week, I was lucky enough to have attended the stellar J. Cole secret show at New York's Irving Plaza - notable not only for J. Cole's fantastic set, but also for a guest appearance by Cole's collaborator and longtime friend, Drake as Jay-Z watched from the VIP section.

At the Houston stop on his Dollar and A Dream tour, the North Carolina-native brought Kendrick Lamar to the stage for a performance of "Forbidden Fruit". J. Cole is known for having a friendly yet competitive relationship with the Compton MC - in "Let Nas Down" from his latest release, Born Sinner, Cole states that he hopes to "Reintroduce 'em to honesty, show 'em that they need more/The difference between the pretenders and the Kendrick Lamars".

To the Houston audience's great pleasure, Kendrick stuck around and performed two of his songs: "HiiiPower" and the megahit, "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe".

Additionaly, a slew of other famous MC's and Houston residents hit the stage with Cole; Bun B, XXL 2013 Freshman Kirko Bangz, Slim Thug and Trae tha Truth were all in attendance. Luckily, for those of us who didn't make it to the Houston show, this was all caught on video. Check it out above.
