Last night at midnight, Fall Out Boy shared a 3-track EP titled Lake Effect Kid.

The band call this a "love letter" to their hometown of Chicago, in celebration of a very special concert planned for next month.  In a heartfelt post on their Facebook page, the band explained, "16 days until we’re back to the city we grew up in, playing the biggest headline show we’ve ever played before in Chicago.  Still so unreal that we’re playing Wrigley Field on September 8th."

The three songs vary in styles and represent the band's versatility for writing catchy tunes.  "Lake Effect Kid" is an upbeat pop-rock jam with a catchy chorus that references their hometown.  "City In A Garden" is another ode to Chicago with rock riffs and pounding drums, which was paired with a music video showing images of the city interspersed with performance footage and behind-the-scenes looks of the band.  "Super Fade" veers toward the band's electronic-pop side with synth-driven beats and glitchy production that juxtaposes high energy choruses against spacey beat drops.

Pick up Lake Effect Kid on Amazon.  You can also stream the full EP below on Spotify.

The band will begin their North American tour later this month.  For concert tickets and more, check out the Fall Out Boy Zumic artist page.
