Tedeschi Trucks Band have released their third studio album, Let Me Get By, via Concord / Fantasy Records.
The deluxe edition of the release contains 13 tracks spanning 78 minutes, featuring three live versions of songs — "Laugh About It," "I Pity The Fool," "Keep On Growing" — that were recorded at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Let Me Get By was produced by Derek Trucks and recorded and mixed by Bobby Tis at Swamp Raga, the Tedeschi-Trucks home studio in Florida. For those who enjoy album artwork, the LP's cover shows a Mongolian golden eagle flying from its master’s glove.
Band personnel includes Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Kofi Burbridge, Tyler Greenwell, J.J. Johnson, Tim Lefebvre, Mike Mattison, Mark Rivers, Alecia Chakour, Kebbi Williams, Elizabeth Lea, and Ephraim Owens.
Let Me Get By sees the Tedeschi Trucks Band continuing their tradition of skillfully crafting bluesy rock songs with elements of old-school soul, feel-good funk, gospel, and hints of Indian influences.
On the band's official website, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks shared some comments about what the album reflects:
"The album didn’t come from any outside influence. This is the first time it’s all in-house, so I feel it’s really a good look at the actual band in action, how we communicate together." - Susan Tedeschi
"The band is in a better place than it’s ever been that way. When everybody would be in the room anyone could just throw out ideas and everybody’d be willing to listen. You have to really trust each other and not be afraid of getting your feelings hurt. That’s more how it was at the beginning but now it’s a fun process, with everyone contributing." - Derek Trucks
Songs we recommend are "Anyhow," "Laugh About It," "Let Me Get By," "Hear Me," "I Want More," and "In Every Heart."
