Montreal wildman King Khan is back with new music. Check out "It's a Lie," the first single off Khan's upcoming LP Murderburgers above, via BandCamp.

Khan recorded and produced the album with The Gris Gris at band member Greg Ashley's Creamery Studio in Oakland, California. The psychedelic garage rock group reunited for the project, which included a week of studio time and a few shows in "the murder capitals of America." The new album will be Khan's debut solo effort, this time without burlesque fashion buddy Mark Sultan (aka BBQ) and longtime backing band The Shrines.

In a statement on Big Hassle, King Khan reflected on his time spent recording the album:

It was a bitch slappin’ good time and a tribute to how much love I have for Oakland and especially to all the good times we had at the Ghost town gallery and eating Big Poppa’s burgers. Oakland may never be the same, but it will always be in my heart!

With heavy bits of punk / garage rock, subtle notes of soul, and the singer's strained vocals and neurotic lyrical conspiracies, "It's a Lie" is vintage Khan. The ringing tremolo of the guitar bounces around maniacally in the chorus, while Khan, whose voice is encircled by cascading bass lines and swift organ punches, sings "Don't tell me there ain't nothing wrong with me baby, I know that it's a lie... Don't you run away now baby, I'm about to make you wife."

Murderburgers is out on October 13, 2017. If you pre-order a copy on King Khan's BandCamp, you will receive a digital download and a blood-speckled vinyl record. Let's hope that the blood is fake.
