Glasgow synth-pop sensations Chvrches have just posted this remix of their song "Lies" by London electronic musician Tourist. Though the YouTube video advertises "Lies out 2 Dec (UK)" in its description, it is unclear what type of release this entails.
Stripping "Lies" of all of its industrial clamor, and elongating it to almost double its original length, Tourist creates a slow-building slice of atmospheric UK dance pop. It resembles Disclosure's chiller moments -- especially their album-closing "Help Me Lose My Mind" -- in its breeziness and use of subtle, emotive synth lines. Considering that "Lies" is arguably the heaviest and most abrasive track on Chvrches' debut album, this transformation is quite a feat.
