Five years ago, J. Cole released his second official mixtape, The Warm Up, to positive reviews and caught the attention of Jay Z. The breakthrough song that convinced Jay Z to sign the young artist, "Lights Please," has never had an official music video, until now.

Cole spoke with Sway from MTV's RapFix about the lead up to being signed with Roc Nation and a certain video that remained hidden. Throughout the interview, one can see that Cole possesses admirable qualities and that he is driven for success. See for yourself in the videos below.

He explained to the intimate audience that the reason for keeping the "Lights Please" video under wraps was because, "In my eyes, it didn't reach the level of greatness that those other ones did." The video was also supposed to be a three-part series in conjunction with his songs "Simba" and "Lost Ones."

The North Carolina rapper has made his two classic mixtapes, The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights, available on mp3 for free download from his official website. Let's just hope he doesn't keep anymore music videos hidden. In the meantime, stay tuned to Cole's Zumic artist page for all the latest in news, music and tour dates.
