UPDATE 7.27: Newport Folk Festival 2015 is now over. Listen to full sets from the weekend over at NPR.

A time honored tradition, this year's Newport Folk Festival has just begun! This is the 50th anniversary of when Bob Dylan played electrified rock 'n roll at the festival, which was very controversial at the time but now would be perfectly normal.

Between sets they're playing pre-recorded songs, so if you tune in and it doesn't sound live you will need to wait until the next set begins. They're also sharing low quality short video clips via the Periscope app on social media.

No word on the exact streaming schedule for Saturday or Sunday yet, but they have shared the performance schedule as a PDF. You can keep up with what's happening on Newport Folk Festival's Tumblr page. Here's the order of bands who will be live streamed, which they posted yesterday:

Haunt the House, Bahamas, Hiss Golden Messenger, The Lone Bellow, Calexico, Heartless Bastards, Watkins Family Hour, The Suffers, Andy Shauf, The Barr Brothers, Langhorne Slim, Courtney Barnett, Jose Gonzalez, Brandi Carlile, Christopher Paul Stelling, Brian Fallon, Nathaniel Rateliff, Field Report, Laura Marling, Shakey Graves plus a few other surprises

Zumic's picks for most anticipated sets from the bands who will be live streamed are Courtney Barnett, The Barr Brothers, Hiss Golden Messenger, Heartless Bastards, Brian Fallon (of The Gaslight Anthem), Laura Marling, The Lone Bellow, and Shakey Graves.

What are the "few other surprises"? This year's Newport Folk lineup looks great, but the streaming lineup doesn't include most of the festival's biggest acts -- Roger Waters, The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Hozier, Jason Isbell, Iron & Wine & Ben Bridwell, First Aid Kit, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Strand of Oaks, Tallest Man on Earth, Jon Batiste, Leon Bridges, and Sturgill Simpson (to name a few).

It's a bit of a letdown compared to NPR's past coverage of the festival, but really I can't complain because I should have trucked up to Rhode Island and been there in person.

Enjoy the weekend!
