Rapper LL Cool J released his fourteenth studio album Authentic this year with much anticipation. Authentic serves as the rapper's first independently distributed album after many years with Def Jam.
According to Nielsen Scan, Authentic sold 14,000 copies opening at No. 7 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. All but one of LL Cool J's fourteen albums have made it in the Top 10 R&B/Hip-Hop albums, which was his 1996 hit set All World, peaking at No. 21. To have thirteen albums make their way into the Top 10 in the charts says something. Hard work has paid off for LL!
This week, Justin Timberlake returned to the top of the chart with his newest album The 20/20 Experience with 68,000 copies in its eight week, according to Billboard. Fantasia, who reigned No. 1 last week with Side Effects of You, dropped down to No. 2 on the charts. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' debut album "The Heist" rose from No. 4 to No. 3 this week on Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums.
