Before heading to Austin to play a pair of SXSW shows this weekend, Warpaint stopped by Conan last night to perform "Love is to Die," the first single from their self-titled 2013 album. Watch above.
With visibly impeccable chemistry, the four-piece showed the intricacies at play in their music. Emily Kokal sang lead vocals, with Theresa Wayman and Jenny Lee Lindberg contributing backing vocals that provided unique harmonies to the song's already-complex collection of melodies. Drummer Stella Mozgawa continued her complete dominance of math rock-influenced rhythms, with her arms' graceful movements belying the skill involved in her job. This version of "Love is to Die" just served as another notch in the belt of Warpaint's stellar history of hypnotic, intoxicating performances.
