Here's a cybersexy video for James Murphy's excellent remix of David Bowie's "Love Is Lost." If you're thinking, 'Hey didn't I already see a video for this remix?' you're right, Bowie made his own video for this song a few weeks ago. This new clip, directed by Barnaby Roper, eschews the creepiness of the first "Love Is Lost" video in favor of something more abstract and amorous.
It starts off concretely enough, with digital hands acting out the song's sampled applause, but from there, things get weird. Imagine trying to make an animated, 3D porno on very advanced software -- so advanced, your computer can't handle it -- and being forced to watch it render for ten minutes before viewing your weird fetish video. Yeah, it's pretty much like that.
Roper pulls some crazy, glitchy moves that you rarely see in music videos, let alone one by David Bowie. There are many moments worthy of a hearty "how'd he do dat?" We look forward to seeing more videos from this guy.
Be sure to check out this remix's other video, and stream Bowie's Next Day Extra box set on Spotify.
