A live version of "They Love Each Other" was recently uploaded to the Jerry Garcia YouTube Channel. The performance is from GarciaLive Volume Five: December 31st, 1975 Keystone Berkeley that will be released on October 21st. You can listen to the song above.

The Grateful Dead first debuted "They Love Each Other" on February 9, 1973. When the Jerry Garcia Band started playing it at their shows, though, they chose to slow down the groove. Here, Jerry is backed by bassist John Kahn, drummer Greg Errico, and keyboardist Nicky Hopkins. Matt Kelly of Kingfish joins in on harmonica.

Jerry opens up the funky tune and immediately Nicky joins in with a brief tickle of the keys. Garcia's voice sounds sharp as Greg and John lay down a deep groove to support him. The band carries the song to a solo that is pushed to the limits with a clean guitar tone that hits very chilling high notes. The highlights of the song are Nicky's energetic keyboard runs and Matt's bluesy harp fills.

The 2-CD set is currently available for pre-order through the Official Garcia Store. For the latest Jerry Garcia related music and news information, check out his Zumic artist page.
