Lupe Fiasco Full Interview With Sway Calloway 1.22.2015

While he never explained why, Fiasco revealed to Sway that this will be one of the last interviews he ever does. In honor of his departure from radio, he decided to treat listeners to one last radio freestyle. After acknowledging the recent success of fellow rapper Joey Bada$$, Fiasco began to chronicle his bumpy rap career in his bars. It's definitely worth checking out. After all, Sway goes as far as to say Fiasco is "the very personification of what hip hop truly is."

The rest of the interview was pretty intense, as Fiasco touched on everything from race and hip hop, to rappers who don't deserve his apologies, to his feelings about President Obama. The Chicago rapper even surprisingly defended the Grammys when Sway was being critical of the music awards show, saying "cultural appropriation is a myth." Speaking on the album, we learned about how the 9+ minute song "Chopper" came together. Overall the interview shows Lupe's insightful nature, as he has never been one to hold his tongue or shied away from ranting about "the truth." Hopefully this isn't actually one of his last interviews ever because it seems like he has a lot to say.
