Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn is getting ready to release his second solo album titled Faith in the Future. The album was produced by Josh Kaufman and recorded at The Isokon in Woodstock, NY.

The first single, "Newmyer's Roof," was released last month. The second single, "Maggie I've Been Searching For Our Son," was released today and you can listen to it above.

There's an easy, Bruce Springsteen vibe to the flow and especially his vocal delivery. A fuzzed out guitar solo midway through gives a shot of adrenaline to this very dynamic track. In an email with the Wall Street Journal, Finn commented on the song:

It felt like a lead song for the LP right away. The song is about someone at the end of their time on earth, looking back on their life, but also trying to wrap up a few loose ends.

In a separate press release, Finn shared more info about Faith in the Future:

I had both the music and lyrics to these songs, though they changed a great deal in the studio... There's a grandness to The Hold Steady that tends to make me write about bigger, more dramatic themes. Some of these songs are more mundane, with minor slices of life that wouldn't best be supported by the hugeness of a rock group. It wasn't always about what we wanted to put in, but what should we leave out? We didn't want to sermonize or moralize. Just let these songs, and characters, be.

You can pick up Faith in the Future on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3). The album is due out on September 11th, 2015.

Finn also announced a string of tour dates today. For the latest music, news, and tour dates from Craig Finn, check out his Zumic artist page.
