Today, The Decemberists released "Make You Better," the first single off their upcoming album, What A Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. The record will be out January 20, 2015. Listen to the Spotify audio stream above.
The lone distorted guitar and Colin Meloy's vocals at the start of the track have a serious tone. As the chorus comes along, the song seemingly takes on a more upbeat direction. However, when listening to the lyrics, lines like "But we're not so starry eyed anymore" create a disconnect between what is being said and the delivery. In all, this track fits into the group's cannon of light folk rock and fans will be pleased.
