Tom Morello has released a studio version of "Marching on Ferguson" that you can listen to above. Tom first premiered the song at an LA benefit concert on September 5th. The song was inspired by the shooting death of Michael Brown and the protests it sparked in the city of Ferguson, Missouri.
It's an emotionally-fueled song with a midtempo beat and heavy guitar riffs. Backing vocals behind Tom give the song an anthemic quality and a screeching guitar solo is reminiscent of his days in Rage Against The Machine.
Tom Morello spoke about the song Facebook page:
I've witnessed countless incidents of racially motivated police brutality in my lifetime and it's time to say ‘Enough!’ in the name of all those wrongfully killed and abused. For all the courageous men and women raising their voices against injustice in Ferguson, and beyond, give 'em hell. This song is for you.
"Marching on Ferguson" is available as a free download on the Ferguson October website. Donations for the song are encouraged and all money will be contributed to local organizations in the St. Louis area.
