Detroit hard rockers MC5 are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their legendary 1968 debut album Kick Out the Jams with a special 30+ concert "MC50" tour.
Guitarist Wayne Kramer is the only original member of the band that will be on this 2018 tour. (Sadly, three of the five members of the original/classic lineup have passed away.) However, fans should not be disheartened because Kramer has recruited a formidable group to join him: Kim Thayil from Soundgarden on guitar, Dug Pinnick from King's X on bass, Brendan Canty from Fugazi on drums, and rounding out the band will be vocalist Marcus Durant from Zen Guerrilla.
The shows are scheduled to begin on September 5 in Florida and extend into late October. The MC50 will play small to mid-size venues across the country, which should make for intimate and exciting performances of some of the most revolutionary rock songs ever created.
