MGMT have already played a couple of new songs live (check out "Mystery Days"), and released "Alien Days" as a "cassingle" on Record Store Day, and now the psych-pop duo have announced that new song "Something To Do With Prince" will be released on a 7-inch split record with Spaceman 3 and Spectrum. The song will serve as the B-side to the Spectrum track "Bo's Web," an outtake from 1992's Soul Kiss (Glide Divine) sessions. The A-side will also include an instrumental demo version of Spacemen 3's 1991 track "Why Couldn't I See?". The three bands are connected by Peter "Sonic Boom" Kember, who founded Spaceman 3 with Jason Pierce, records music as Spectrum and produced MGMT's last record, 2010's Congratulations.
There will only be 1,000 copies of the limited edition record (out May 13th on Rough Trade) and it will be pressed on green vinyl and feature a special cover designed by Kimber. Check out preorder details for the record here and MGMT's spring tourdates here.
