A collection of eight unfinished Michael Jackson tracks is being posthumously released as an album entitled Xscape, out on May 19th through Epic Records. Watch the YouTube teaser video above, featuring a snippet of the title track.

The songs on the album will be, in the words of Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid, "contemporized". As to what that means, an official press release stated that they, "retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson's essence and integrity." A deluxe edition of the album will also be released and will feature both updated and original versions of the songs.

The press release said that album's title, "honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project."

Co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson John Branca and John McClain stated, “Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”

The project is being overseen by Timbaland, and will feature production from McClain, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and Jerome "Jroc" Harmon. Additionally, MissInfo reports that Jesse Johnson, D’Angelo, Questlove, and Mary J. Blige will also be featured on the record. As of now, there is no official tracklist, but it will feature a title track which was co-written by Jerkins.

Pre-orders for the album will be available on April 1st on iTunes and elsewhere.
