Glasgow-based indie pop group Chvrches appeared on the British TV show Later... With Jools Holland to perform the songs "The Mother We Share" and "Lies," both of which appear on their latest album, The Bones Of What You Believe. The band nailed both songs, with lead singer Lauren Mayberry draping her airy voice over the bouncing bass lines, stomping percussion, and swirling synth riffs provided by bandmates Iain Cook and Martin Doherty.
Although their latest album has brought them a great deal of attention, not all of that attention has been good. Mayberry recently posted on the group's Facebook page asking male fans to stop sending her obscene and misogynistic emails. She also wrote an impressive piece about the issue in The Guardian Music Blog. Her advice to the oversexed douchebags clogging up her inbox? They should "learn a little empathy," "have a little respect for other people," and most of all, "think before they speak."
