The Murder City Devils just released The White Ghost Has Blood On Its Hands Again, their first all new full-length record since 2000's In Name and Blood, and they stopped by hometown radio station KEXP to play 4 songs from the album.
The performance is the perfect balance of on-point and wild, with Spencer Moody's howling voice sitting on top of an excellent performance by the band. They kick off with the grooving "Hey Playboy," before cutting into the brilliantly cacophonous "I Don't Wanna Work For Scum Anymore." The fact that this was an in-studio performance leads me to wonder how insane and unrestrained the new track must be when played live.
They break briefly to speak with DJ Sharlese. Moody speaks about the differences between now and the old days, and touches on the artistic freedom they've gained since their split with Sub Pop. They wrap up the set with "Cruelty Abounds" and "Not Everybody Gets A Good Time," followed by Spencer and Sharlese discussing the finer points of wearing clothing at a music festival.
