King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have just shared "Cellophane," a whirling psychedelic preview of their upcoming album I'm In Your Mind Fuzz.
The track is maddeningly fuzzy, with layered instruments and a driving rhythm, but it's taken into bizarre territory by ever-present pan effects. It feels like you're trapped in a smoke-filled room while each of the instruments are blasted at you through a Leslie speaker. A massive laser light show cuts through the fog during the guitar and harmonica solos, but the bulk of the track is hazy, stoned-out insanity. Which is a good thing. Listen to "Cellophane" above.
I'm In Your Mind Fuzz is slated to be out on November 11th on John Dwyer's Castle Face Records. There's no pre-order information available just yet, but stay tuned to Zumic as details emerge. For now, you can stream their latest album, Oddments, right here at Zumic.
