Sleater-Kinney are returning from an eight-year hiatus with their new album, No Cities to Love. Above is a lyric video for the song "Bury Our Friends" which will be on the album.
The video takes a minimalist approach. Filmmaker Miranda July stands alone in the middle of the frame wearing an old man mask with a worn out jacket. She slowly turns towards the camera and starts to move more sporadically as the video progresses. Around her, the lyrics appear mostly word for word as they are being sung. The combination of July's movements and the way the lyrics pop out on screen capture the intensity of the song.
No Cities to Love comes out on January 20, 2015 and can be pre-ordered on Sub Pop's Mega Mart. For more, check out Sleater-Kinney’s Zumic artist page.
