Today, Billy Corgan shared "Being Beige," the first track from The Smashing Pumpkins' upcoming album, Monuments To An Elegy. Listen to the song above.
Featuring Tommy Lee on drums, the song is heavy on acoustic strumming and rising choruses. During the verses, drum machine beats lend support to Billy's soft vocals. Heavily distorted guitars and Tommy's pounding drum fills explode into thundering choruses. It's a tune full of emotional lyrics, and one that should have Pumpkins fans excited to hear more from the new album.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Corgan spoke about the song:
People always ask me to explain songs, and honestly I can’t. But if there’s honesty in this lyric, it’s that there’s something amiss in our cosmos. Yet still, we must love.
Monuments to an Elegy is due out December 9th, and pre-orders for the vinyl are available through Amazon.
